Allison + Wilson had an intimate destination wedding ceremony at the historic Mast Farm Inn with just immediate family in attendance...

“The venue was so “us” and we loved how green and lush the grounds looked that day. Our theme was really “fish and family” and I enjoyed working in a lot of carefully curated details that incorporated those ideas (some of which were surprises!). The ceremony was intimate and meaningful and we couldn’t have asked for anything more. ”

Wilson was born and raised in Charlotte, NC. Allison grew up in Florida and Hickory, NC, but at the time was living in the High Country. Wilson, an outdoorsman and fly fishing guide, attended Appalachian State University and was very familiar with the Boone area. The first date began with Wilson driving past Allison's house (a few times, she thinks), eating at Storie Street on Main Street, and a fly fishing lesson in Valle Crucis (an activity that had been on Allison's bucket list that she and her sister jokingly made a few years ago, unbeknownst to Wilson).

Things went well and one week later, Wilson was Allison's last-minute date to a childhood friend's wedding in Trade (where he met her family and lifelong friends) and one week after that, they were secretly booking flights to go on a Yellowstone vacation together in September. It was only fitting that their wedding package is entitled "Leap of Faith." They're used to it!

Allison wanted to incorporate an "Appalachian" feel into the wedding day. For the ceremony, they chose "Simple Gifts" and one additional song, performed by Deans' Duets. In keeping with the local feel, Allison wanted to go with flowers that are native to the High Country area and in bloom in June.

Allison + Wilson incorporated family heritage by using his grandpa's wedding band engraved with both his wedding date and theirs, and they displayed old photographs of parents and grandparents around the cake...

“We chose our vows specifically and made some fun edits to fit our style. Our unity ceremony included literally “tying the knot” - a fisherman’s knot, of course, since Wilson is an avid fly fisherman. I love that we were able to get married across the street from where he took me fishing and picnicking on our second date. The mountains are special to us both. ”
