Visiting the Downtown Hickory Farmer’s Market

I admit. We haven’t been to the local Downtown Hickory Farmer’s Market yet this year…. I know, I know… no excuse! But we finally made it over this AM and we are more ready than ever to get more RAW healthy foods into our diet and to support our local farmers. I must say, I’m beyond excited about it!
A couple of weeks ago we decided to get healthy. Change our lifestyle to include the healthy foods that we need to live as healthy as a life as we possibly can. We decided to “ease” into it… starting out by replacing one meal (lunch or dinner) with a healthy smoothie that includes berries/fresh fruit/greens/flax seed/etc…. and doing things like drink more water, cut down on caffeine, cut down on processed foods…. and then we plan to little by little, add this, add that, add more greens and replace the old with the new….. so far we are having an easy time sticking with it! I’m very excited about it! We’ve each lost about 4 or 5 lbs just from doing this so far.
So back to this AM…. we went to the local farmer’s market and bought some very nice organic fruits and veggies today! Here are a few of the goodies we got for this week
Corn and chicken from Dellinger Family Farms, based out of Cherryville, NC…
Mustard leaves/greens to add a nice kick to our salads…
Local blueberries, peaches, and tomatoes…
We also grabbed some amazing tomato basil goat cheese from Cheval Farmstead Dairy in Vale, NC and some goats milk soap made by Living Greener Days out of Hickory, NC!
