My favorite approach is the natural one, where we will capture your child in his or her element. We still use props and toys, but I try to understand and get to know your child's nature and capture it.

I like to take some time before we start to get to know your child, their favorite color, what they've done today, favorite hobbies, if they have any pets, etc! In doing this, I learn about their passion... I get to see that little sparkle in their eyes while they talk about it.... and guess what... that's when I get my camera ready.... ;)

Believe it or not, I've found that a child's ideas for their own "poses" are the BEST! :) I love to ask them if they have any ideas of their own.

Sometimes it takes time for a child to warm up to the camera. They just need a little time to realize, "Hey, this IS fun!" If your child is shy or hesitant to cooperate, sometimes we may have to let them step away for a bit, I sometimes like to put the camera down (or maybe hide it behind me) and just hang with them for a little while.

When the main focus is individual photos of your child, sometimes it is best to limit the "audience" to only one or two people at most or else the child may be too distracted or unable to focus.

If your child doesn't want to do something, don't feel like you need to push them into it. We will try all kinds of different things and figure out what best fits your child's personality! No worries!

Remember that I always have a plan...there may be situations where it may seem like I couldn't possibly be getting anything good.... I'll always find a way to make something work. The most important thing is to keep smiling (yes, you :), allow the child to have fun, and do everything we can to keep them calm and in a good mood.
