Scott + Amanda
The day was a perfect blend of beauty, family and friends, laughter, and true love. Before we get into the wedding day, we want to share a bit of Scott + Amanda’s sweet love story…
The Background
“… I spent a lot of time by myself and with God contemplating life - one of the things I thought about was what it truly meant to love someone. So one of the first deep conversations Amanda and I had was about just that. Ultimately, we agreed on that fact that the next person we wanted to say "I love you" to was our spouse and that we didn't want to lessen the true meaning of that phrase by using it on someone other than that person…”

The Proposal
“We arrived at South Mountain State Park on October 30th with a beautiful clear sky, no rain in the forecast and beautiful fall colors on the trees . Completely unbeknownst to her, I had a ring hidden away in my backpack and so much on my mind to say to her. As our hike neared the top of the waterfall I stopped and moved the ring to my right front pocket, nervous, my heart pounding. There is a small bridge that crosses over the waterfall at the top and I wanted so bad to use that bridge to symbolize the bridge we had to cross the past 5 years in order to finally get married, so when she started to cross it I took her by the arm and said "Wait. Let's enjoy the view just a bit longer." Phew! That was close. Looking off the back of the bridge I began, "Amanda, there's something I've been meaning to tell you.." There was a long pause, after 5 years of never saying this phrase it began to grow, it was almost as if the impact of the words grew and with it the actual size of the words grew and they became so big that they couldn't pass through my throat when I tried to speak them. I was experiencing some odd nostalgia for the present and tears began falling down my face. I was nervous, but so excited to tell her how I felt. Slowly, it came out, "I love you." And as I embraced her, I felt her sense of shock and heard her say, "Buddy, you're not supposed to say..." She stopped, I thought she realized what was happening, but not at this point. We kept hugging as she told me she loved me too. Still crying and hugging each other I finally let go and reached into my pocket to open up the box and present her with the symbol of my love. "Will you marry me." Shock started across her face as I placed the ring on her finger. I'm not sure how long we were silent, but it felt like we looked over that bridge for an eternity. We entered the bridge hand-in-hand as friends, but we crossed hand-in-hand, as a newly engaged couple.”
