Aaron + Amanda: Part 1
We had the privilege of photographing Aaron and Amanda’s wedding just a few days over a year ago….. and now it’s their 1st year anniversary! As you will see from these photos, these two are still very much “newlyweds” :) We had such a great time hanging out with these guys this past weekend. There are 2 parts to this post, the first set we will feature in this post - took place in the Henry River Village Mill Town (yes, where The Hunger Games was filmed in Hildebran, NC). Why, you may wonder, did the couple want to do their photos here? Well, not because it’s a popular place… but because of her ancestral ties to the now abandoned mill town. Want a little more of the town story?
“Construction of Henry River Mills was completed in 1905. The village consisted of the mill and company store, as well as a boarding house and 35 clapboard structures that housed the workers and their families. Around 1987, the last tenant moved off the property, however almost all of the residents had been gone for quite some time. The village died around 1960, but the current owner of the land, allowed many residents with no where to go to continue living on the property well after the mill had closed.”
- The News Herald
Amanda’s grandfather once lived in one of the homes in this mill town. So the town, the history… the story…. is very special to Amanda. You’ll see the old house in the photos below.
I love a good story, don’t you? Stay tuned for part 2 from our session with Aaron and Amanda on the blog tomorrow!
