Katie + Jeremiah's Leatherwood Resort Destination Wedding
“I was on my way out to Hawaii when I stopped in California for the weekend to visit a friend and meet my future husband over a game of cards. When I left the next day I never really thought I would see him again, boy.... was I wrong. We have traveled all over the states together till he got stationed in Germany. The first time I visited him he took me to a beautiful old castle overlooking the Rhein and at the top of the tower were roses and wine, next thing I knew he was down on one knee. He has turned my life into a fairy tale, the kind you stop believing in when life has discouraged you but now, I couldn’t be happier.”
“Our style was a little different. I gave the vendors freedom of creativity and the outcome was amazing, it was an older style and color and everyone ran with it.”
“Everything about our day was amazing from the beginning to the end, and even if there are hiccups that’s just a funny part of your story. My dad passed when I was a child, and not having him there left a small hole in my heart, but something amazing happened. While standing at the alter there were tons of lady bugs all around us, a beautiful sign of good luck. It truly felt like his presence was there, even in a form of lady bugs.”
“Every moment of our wedding will be treasured forever. Being a military family means parting ways with the ones you love all the time, this was the first time we had everyone together and it will be forever cherished. From the groom getting high-fived by dad or the bride slow dancing with the flower girl to the wedding party Disney karaoke dance party. Everything was perfect.”
Any advice for future brides + grooms?
“Hiccups happen and that is ok! Just roll with the punches and remember that no matter what this day will be amazing! A mistake I made was taking water pills the night before.... If you don’t know what the main ingredient is, it’s caffeine. I woke up at 2am that morning and that was all the sleep I got, followed up by a upset stomach. My advice is to relax and sleep as much as possible and stay away from water pills lol Oh, and don’t be surprised if you don’t get to eat much of dinner because everyone will be coming up and talking to you!
